What grade level is it best to start working in?

Ok, so lets say you completed the education requirements, and became a teacher. Now your a beginner elementary school teacher. What grade level would you recommend starting as?

It really depends on you and your experience. I would suggest working with students around the age you are most experienced with. Personally, I would say it is easier to work with older students but it really all depends on your preferences and experiences.

I would say that if at all possible, do a semester of substitute teaching before diving into your own classroom. It was recommended to me by an advisor and I think it's an extremely helpful thing to do. It'll not only give you insight into what grade level you work best with, but it will also help you to find a perfect school for you. I would definitely recommend testing the waters with substituting if at all possible. :)
