Hi Hayden! It seems like many folks have a tendency to idealize daily routines, but I'd suggest steering clear of that mindset.

Even if you manage to snag a position at a big company like Microsoft, it doesn't guarantee that your daily routine will mirror that of someone else working there. Teams can vary greatly, and so can the daily tasks!

What's important to remember is that everyone has a unique routine. Some folks are workaholics, spending their days engrossed in studies and extra tasks related to software. Others prefer to complete their work quickly, leaving ample time to enjoy the finer things in life. Then there are those who strike a balance, carefully organizing their days around both work and leisure activities.

The best advice I can offer is to keep in mind that your priorities may shift with age. It's quite common for us to switch up our routines every now and then.

I'd encourage you to focus on what's important to you. If your goal is to excel in web development, make sure to carve out some time in your day for learning and exploration. This might mean sacrificing a bit of your social life or gaming time, but remember, it's all about prioritizing your goals!

Hi Hayden,

This is a great question! I definitely agree with Rafael's answer as well, though. Daily tasks in tech vary widely so it's hard to really pinpoint a day to day routine of a typical web developer. It can also depend on what kind of web developer you want to be.

For example, I am an accessibility consultant. While I don't actively participate in web development of companies, my day to day has a lot to do with the design and development of a website. My work has me look at client websites to see what they can do to fix their websites to be more accessible to people with disabilities and give them recommendations on how to do that. So my day to day has a lot of website testing, writing out recommendations, validating fixes from clients, answering questions about accessibility, and many other types of tasks. My days do not tend to look the same from day to day depending on what kind of project I am working on or where I am in the process of that project.

My suggestion to you would be to look into what kind of day to day work you would be interested in. For me, I am very passionate about digital accessibility and love getting to help companies make their websites more accessible so the individual types of tasks don't matter much to me as long as I get to be a part of making the web more accessible. If you find something that you are passionate about, the day to day will not seem as important. But also, if you do want to know more about the day to day of a specific type of web developer, do some research into that specific type of developer and see what the typical tasks are for that position.
