Hi Emma!

Each person is different so I do not believe there is one answer to your question. With that said you must love to learn and study to get through all the schooling. I believe dedication to what you want out of your life is the most difficult part of becoming a veterinarian. People skills are very important and too often students think becoming a veterinarian means dealing with animals only....they come with owners !

Being willing to be of service to people and their pets is very important!

Suzanne recommends the following next steps:

Get experience working in an animal hospital
Volunteer at an animal shelter to work with animals
Work with people however you are able, build your people skills!

Robert H.’s Answer

Becoming a Veterinarian is very competitive and some say more difficult than standard medical school. You can do it though. Be dedicated to your studies and disciplined with your time management. If this is truly your course, you will do what it takes to make the dream come true. Good luck.
