Start attending job career fairs at your college and nearby colleges—it's a great step forward! Visit local banks and connect with people on LinkedIn to find the right opportunities. Don't hesitate to ask someone you know to introduce you to others over coffee, breakfast, or lunch. Most people are happy to help and feel honored when you reach out.

Hi Mark,

Great question! A way to secure a job during while studying or right after graduating is through internships. Many internship opportunities are aimed to not only provide working experience, but to prepare interns for entry-level roles at the same company. The key is to ensure the company you choose and are selected to do an internship offers that possibility. What you can do proactively when looking for internships is research people in the company that have been hired after doing an internship, or directly ask hiring teams if this is a common practice or even a possibility.

The steps for finding internships may differ by industry or relations between your school and interested companies. Here is what is important to do when looking for any internship or first job experience:
- Build your CV: When you don't have previous work experience, you can leverage your academical achievements, the skills you have acquired, and your interests.
- Networking: Look for opportunities to build connections with professionals in fields or companies in which you have an interest. Plus, if you are familiar with LinkedIn, connect with recruiters, introducing yourself as a student open to future internship opportunities.
- Participate in local job fairs; this ties down with the previous point.
- Consistently apply to internships and job positions: We are facing a very competitive job market, so it may be difficult or even take many rejections to get to your first interview opportunity and then a yes. So by applying to as many openings as you can, you are improving your odds.

About bank job experiences, if that is your preferred field, it is important that you prioritize your search but at the same time try to stay open to other opportunities that can help you get into the role you envision for yourself.

Finally, congrats on taking the first step by asking and preparing yourself for the next stage of your professional career; you already have an advantage. Best of luck!
