How many scholarships would you recommend applying to? Would you also apply throughout college?
And where did you find the scholarships on? A database or just found them?

Hi Sioban,
I would recommend that you apply to as many as you can! I know it can be disheartening to apply to a ton of scholarships and not hear back but by doing so, you are increasing your chances of winning.
Two things I would suggest are:
1. Finding LOCAL scholarships (scholarships hosted by your college (or high school), local businesses, etc). Why local? There is usually a smaller application pool for these as you're only competing against your community. For instance, in my hometown, there was a small concrete mixing company that hosted scholarships specifically for seniors who went to my high school. Because I was only competing with a maximum of 800 students, I was able to secure a scholarship! That's not to say you shouldn't apply to bigger scholarships but be mindful of how many people are also submitting applications (sometimes websites will tell you this information).
2. Talk to the financial aid department of the school you are attending or want to attend to hear more about opportunities that are available.
You should continue to apply to scholarships throughout college. You can never have too much financial aid!
If you choose to use websites like fastweb for your scholarship, try to be specific in your search. Maybe look for opportunities that specific to your state or major to help increase your chances of winning!
