Good evening,

Kailey, follow your dreams that you hold so deep in your heart. Study hard and do your homework. And take a break, socialize, and take good care of your health. But, do the research that will lead you to greater heights. Take it to another level and impress yourself, the take-charge approach that will lead you to a successful future. Stand out, and others will want to follow your lead. Don't look back, you are on your way.

The fact that you asked this question indicates that you are ready to take charge of your destiny! Great!

Here are some things you can do:
1. If you are a shy person, practice introducing yourself to someone for the 1st time - what would you want them to know about you? Practice in front of a mirror or with a trusted friend. Keep the introduction to 1 min or less. This will come in handy when you 1st enter college & will constantly be meeting new people. You can refine the introduction as time goes on & you get familiar with college.
2. Don't be afraid to ask questions. Believe it or not, several other students may be having the same question in mind, but are too shy to ask.
3. Show that you are invested in your success. You can do this by working hard in your classes, attending office hours, going to TA (Teaching Assistant) led sessions etc. Use all resources that are available, including free learning software & the library.
4. Join clubs that interest you - it's a great way to meet new people and also do something new.
5. Participate in school events.
6. For the 1st 3 months or so, try to meet at least 1 new person each week. Soon you will know a lot of faces around campus, making you feel at home.
7. Learn to manage your time well - get your coursework & projects done well before the deadline. Block time for studying & schoolwork so that you are not stressed when assignment/project deadlines or tests/exams come up.
8. Prioritize your well-being. Get enough sleep and exercise every day. It will make you a better student & help you sustain in college well.
9. Have FUN - college is one of the best times of your life - you will grow as a person & discover yourself. Make the most of it & enjoy the journey!

Good luck in college!
