Hi Peri - you are wise to seek help with applying to a doctoral program. It has been competitive in almost every field for a while.

The first place I would look is at the school where you are pursuing your Master's degree. It is in their self-interest to have you be accepted at a Ph.D program because it reflects well on their Master's program. if you don't know where to find advice, ask at your department. You may also be able to access advice from your undergraduate school also since they want their alumni to be happily employed and loyal to them.

I have also put come links below to advice I found worthwhile. Watching my children and their friends, I would suggest giving yourself a lot of time to research programs and also specific professors you would like to work with. That seems key to success. Also, to the extent that you have time and funds (I understand that you are a student now), try to attend a conference in your field. In the best scenario, you meet a professor you would like to work with. If not that, you could meet others who could advise you on this process.

Good luck!

In your university they may be able to connect you to someone... Check with your teachers online if you are attending online and ask they may be a lot. Go to the library in the school and ask the librarian..They probably have programs for you..Use the college because they have resources for students.. They are a good place to start. If they don't know they can point you in the right direction.
