Stacey’s Answer

If you've studied outside the U.S. and want to get licensed, a foreign credential evaluation report can be a great step to meet the educational requirements in the United States. In most states, you can't give Botox or fillers just by finishing an esthetician program; you'll need extra medical training. Some states let nurses do these injections with a doctor's supervision, but this requires a nursing degree and special certification beyond esthetics. If being an Esthetician is your passion, pursue the right training to gain the knowledge you need. People will trust you, and the more you know, the more comfortable they will feel. You’ve got this!

Hello, Ella !

Even though you would not be able to administer Botox to clients for wrinkle removal, you can go to Aesthetician School and obtain the license with any educational background.

The reason that medical professionals are the only people that can administer Botox is because Botox, a toxin, has dual purpose use. Although it was originally approved to make wrinkles disappear, it was then approved to treat migraine headaches. There can be some very serious direct health effects with the use of Botox which you can read about at the drug's website.

There are other techniques that you can learn that smooth wrinkles for your future customers. One that I would suggest learning would be Radio Frequency Facials. Each State has guidelines and regulations for aestheticians that do it and it's much safer and if done right can have no additional unwanted direct effects. Not every client is a candidate for RF, like people with pacemakers or people that have seizures. You would learn RF facials outside of aesthetician school. You would also need to take out liability insurance if you start to offer RF Facials.

So I encourage you to explore Aesthetician Schools right now and get started. I hope this helps and I wish you all the best !

CHUNTING’s Answer

hello Ella, as my knowledge, regarding whether estheticians can perform Botox or filler procedures without a nursing background, the answer is generally no. In the United States, only licensed medical professionals such as doctors, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, registered nurses, and dentists are allowed to administer Botox and fillers. Estheticians, even if they have completed esthetician training, are not permitted to perform these injections as it poses risks to patient safety. hope it is helpful to you.
