What about working in Product management?

What about this field and what degree should I get to be able to land a job? Would this career support my EDM music career?

I lead digital/technical product teams to create solutions and capabilities. There are other kinds of product managers that manage physical products, platforms, systems, workflows/operations, etc. Can you speak more about your interest in this area? Jared Bartholomew

I haven't been a product manager, but I work closely with them every day, so I can share some insights. The product managers I know come from different backgrounds. Some have been accountants, bankers, engineers, or project managers. Despite their different pasts, they all deeply understand the product they manage and the needs of the customers who use it. This helps them decide which features are most important. In tech, having technical knowledge is very helpful. Many types of degrees can lead to a career as a product manager, but certifications and experience are also very valuable.

Its nice to know that you are considering courses which will help you in your pursuit for a career of your choice.
You mentioned about Product Management and how it can help you. To answer that i would say product management is very specific to a particular product, which focuses mainly in that product's roadmap, its strategies,ensuring it meets market needs and achieves business goals.
Project Management, on the other hand, focuses on the execution and delivery of specific projects to achieve a defined outcome within a set timeframe and budget. Meaning, product managers are concerned with what and why, while project managers are concerned with how and when.
Given your choice of career, i would suggest you go for a proper certification from Project Management Institute (PMI). College graduates can pursue project management careers through certifications offered by the Project Management Institute (PMI). The PMI offers various certifications, including the PMP (Project Management Professional) and CAPM (Certified Associate in Project Management), that can help graduates build a foundation in project management.

Hi Katelyn!
Small world - my wife and I got married in Grass Valley! I love Ben's answer and agree that it could contribute to your EDM focus. I worked in PM for many years before becoming a music producer, and quite a few of those skills have helped me in my music pursuits.
I would like to also suggest that Music Production education would also give you a great foundation for an EDM career. This could include one or more degree / certification programs in Music Production, Audio Production, Recording Arts, Music Technology, Audio Engineering, or Show Production.
Also, if you haven't already - I recommend immersing yourself in free and paid EDM courses online. One of the most prolific and effective EDM producers out there is Alice Efe. Alice Yalcin Efe, aka biskuwi, is a Stockholm based female electronic music producer and DJ whose involvement with music has spanned more than 20 years. She has a lot of great videos on YouTube and also offers courses (as low as $39) from her Mercurial Tones Academy page. Here are some links:

It’s awesome that you’re exploring project management (PM) as a career path—and even cooler that you’re into EDM music. Believe it or not, these two interests can absolutely go hand-in-hand!
Project managers are planners, problem-solvers, and creative collaborators. These skills also valuable in music production, event planning, and creative career management, which is the best way to combine the two.

- Google Project Management Certificate (via Coursera – free trial or scholarships available)

I love everyone's responses - I agree with them all. Product Management could be a great segway into EDM music career! Understanding the fundamentals behind putting together a product goes hand and hand with creating music and all of the complexities that come along with creating something new!
