Mycology - Best/worst part about your job?

Hello! I was wondering what are the best and worst parts of your job? Working in a team, or prefer working solo? Are some tests not enjoyable? What about working in mycology isn't enjoyable?

Hi, Colton !

So you're interested in working with mushrooms, yeasts, and molds. Even though I do not work with them and am not a Mycologist, I would like to give you some advice about your career of choice. No one can tell you what will be the downside or which job duty you won't like, you'd have to experience that for yourself. Your career will not be like any other people's so you will have to have a strong interest in it and be willing and open to doing all the work that is involved. You should make your own opinions about what you like or don't like about it.

To plan for your academic path, you can start looking for colleges to Major in biology, microbiology, botany, plant pathology, plant science, or agriculture. Mycology is a sub study of these subjects. You also can start reading the college programs to see what courses are included and if you like the subjects. Watch some Mycology videos on You Tube by typing in "what it's like to be a Mycologist " in the You Tube search box. Explore plant pathology, field mycology, and applied mycology and learn how they are applied.

I wanted to provide this advice because I am not sure that there is a Mycology advisor available, would be great if there is, but this is a field of work that you must explore for yourself to see if it's something you really want to pursue. Have your own experiences with it and come to a personal decision about a career in Mycology.
