What are my options Is anyone in the field that can explain pros and cons??

I am interested in environmental law and would love to get to work with marine areas more than any other. I have a crazy love for the ocean, so I would love to stick close to it in a helping manner.

Rylee, while you progress through school you might want to check out internship and other volunteer opportunities that are local to your area (Coast Guard, marine conservation organizations), to get a better sense of what is involved, Making good contacts (networking) and developing experience can be very helpful, especially at the early stages of developing a career. I hope this helps!

DENNIS’s Answer

Hi Rylee: Great goal - our oceans are in need of a strong advocate.
Much of environmental law depends upon where you live. Out west there is a great deal of fight over irregation water rights and huge farming companies controlling the water. East is more involved in polution and flooding. Dumping on both coasts is an issue. So Rylee, as you move forward you might want to research what type of environmental law you are interested in. Plus, there are international issues if your concern is further out in the ocean.
At this point if I were you I'd start looking at the different sub-fields of environmental law you might like. Per some research there is now so many plastic items in our oceans our fish are in danger.
Good luck. We need you. Keep up the fight!
