What advice can current or former educators give regarding the interviewing/hiring process for teachers?

I am currently a sophomore in college, and I often find myself a little bit nervous about going through the interviewing process for a teaching position. I understand that by the time I graduate college, I should have a portfolio that I can share with the hiring committee. Is there anything else that I should know and be prepared for regarding the interviewing and hiring process prior to graduation?

Research the hot topic in education and make sure you include that with examples in your response

Greetings Jessy: Thank you for your question: When you are interviewing for an Educator position, the main things are to be yourself and be completely honest. It is great to have an portfolio, but the administration are going to ask you questions on how you problem-solve.

For example, How would you handle a disruptive student while engaging in your reading lesson?
How would you handle student who has a IEP, when you have a class of thirty? How do you make sure that the lesson you are teaching is reaching all your students?
How do you handle a parent when you have to inform the parent that their child is failing a particular lesson?

These above questions are real- life scenarios, which you will have to handle. A portfolio is important but having the skill set, and the ability to remain calm is what Principals
