Best is the best way to find a career in video game design?

I am currently a freshman in college majoring in Graphic Arts/Interactive Design and want to become a video game designer. I took computer classes in high school, I was in the World Language Honor Society and the National Honor Society. Outside of school I have been active in Boy Scouts and have earned the rank of Eagle Scout.

Thank you comment icon Hello Anthony. Your inquiries have gone through my weekly mail. My advice will be just like the song "Shallow" of Lady Gaga and Bradly Coopper :-) and from international perspective because I live outside U.S.A. As an Eagle Scout for sure you have a positive outlook for the future. Build Skills: Focus on developing both technical and soft skills. Technical skills (like coding, design, or data analysis) are important, but communication, teamwork, and problem-solving are equally valuable in any career.Networking & Mentorship 🤝 Connect with people in fields you’re curious about. Platforms like LinkedIn, local meetups, or even CareerVillage itself are great places to start. A mentor can provide guidance and open doors you might not expect. Blessing Isida Mici

Hi Anthony,

Start by checking with your school's career services; they might help you find internships or jobs in your field of interest.

You can also research local companies involved in video game design. Contact them to see if they offer summer internships or part-time positions during the school year.

Your college might have connections with companies that can help you get started. Gaining real-world experience through a summer job or internship will help you decide if this is the right path for you.

Good luck with your classes and career journey.

Dan
