How do I know that Hololive is the path for me?

I'm aiming to become a Holostar and wondering if it's right for me. My favorite is Gawr Gura, and I want to be like her. If I do, what should my debut song title be?

Donna’s Answer

Cynthia;

So first I had to educate myself on what Hololive was and who Gawr Gura was.

Having a talent and with the expanding social media platforms enables a greater number of individuals to potentially experience popularity and earning a living in what seems to be a fun way.

Yet this is a business and it is marketing (yourself, your art, your talent, etc...)

I spoke to a few younger individuals about this and maybe a good start would be research and story board.

Since you mentioned music and singing, I am guessing you have a bunch of songs you have written. Do you also play an accompanied instrument or have a band behind you?

Dig into the background stories of individuals who have been successful and those that have not been so successful. Learn from their stories.

As Hololive is a Japanese based company, is that your market sector? Do you have to adjust your online "live" times to a different time zone?

Who is the demographic of individuals that you want to follow you?

What are you willing to sacrifice to meet your ultimate goals. Many influencer's, you tube talents spend countless hours recording and editing to post the perfect video.

It is hard work and perseverance, so maybe a story board to keep you on track. Where do you want to be by the time you graduate?

What perception do you want to give your followers, what niche market are you going to create or be a part of?

What sort of individuals do you need to surround yourself with in this industry? Do you need an agent as you gain popularity? Do you need an IT person who is savvy in the internet who knows how to get your videos to the top of the feeds? What will the impact of AI generated music be as you move through this path? How do you compete?

I hope these questions help you move in the direction of your dreams and help you plan a solid path. And yes as "S" states, if you love your job, it makes a big difference.

S’s Answer

This is a fun question—and also a surprisingly serious one.

Liking Gawr Gura (or any successful creator) is a great starting spark, but it’s not the test for whether Hololive is “your path.” The real question is: do you enjoy the process, not just the outcome?

Before worrying about debut songs or agencies, ask yourself a few grounding questions:

• Do you genuinely enjoy performing, singing, streaming, or entertaining even when no one is watching yet?

• Are you comfortable building a persona that is consistent, professional, and long-term?

• Can you handle rejection, auditions that go nowhere, and long periods of growth without guarantees?

• Would you still create content if Hololive never happened?

If the answer is yes, then you’re already on the right path—regardless of the agency.

As for debut song titles: don’t try to “be like” someone else. The creators who last are the ones who develop their own voice, even inside a company brand. Your debut title should come after you understand who you are creatively, not before.

In short:

• Experiment first (covers, streaming, performance).

• Build skills and consistency.

• Treat agencies as one possible outcome, not the definition of success.

If it’s truly your path, you’ll keep walking it even without certainty—and that’s usually the clearest sign.

Good luck, and have fun with it. The fun part matters more than people admit.

Arsen’s Answer

I think it's a great path, as it was for everyone's favorite Gooba! Especially since it's a big company since 2020.

Arsen recommends the following next steps:

(Also, these are optional, but you're debut song could be called "The Other Fish in the Sea." with your backstory being a rival against Gawr Gura.)
