Hi Rachael,
Many people choose social work because they want to help others and make a real difference in people’s lives. The work allows them to support individuals, families, and communities during challenging times. I went into the field because I have lived experience and wanted to make a difference. Most social workers appreciate the purpose and impact the role offers. I like that each day can be different. Over time, you also build strong communication and problem-solving skills as you work toward positive change. Overall, you have to have empathy and grace, but it is very worth it.

I'm not a social worker yet, but I've been interested in it for a long time. I chose this path because I love the idea of helping people in a real and meaningful way. I want a job where I can support others, connect them with resources, and truly make a difference in their everyday lives.
I'm particularly drawn to the parts of social work that involve counseling and advocacy. I enjoy thinking about how to listen, understand someone's situation, and help them find solutions. Even though I'm still in school and learning, I can already see how much social workers impact people's lives.
For me, it's more than just a job; it's a chance to be part of the community and help people when they need it most. That's why I'm dedicated to pursuing this career, even though I still have more to learn and experience to gain.
