If I were to pursue a career in journalism or radio person, what kind of jobs would get me closer to those positions?

I've narrowed down my options to just a few, the 2 above being some of them. I'm striving to do something in media and film, but these options are for media only. I want to do something related to spreading information and collecting it. I was wondering if there were jobs or internships that would get me towards those positions or close.

I believe this is key "... I want to do something related to spreading information and collecting it..." That pretty much sums up what 'reporters' do. However, Lilith, I'm afraid that you're putting the cart before the horse. In most cases internships are organized by the school for students studying specific subjects i.e. journalism, broadcast journalism, broadcasting in general, video production, film studies, photography/videography, creative writing, English, composition, and so on. I suggest that you narrow down your career-path and focus on whatever that may be. The competition for jobs these days is acute and educational credentials are essential. So, spend plenty of quality time (DON'T RUSH IT) considering your options and goals, write them all down and through a painstaking, comprehensive process of elimination, make your decision. Better to base that decision on facts not guesswork. But fear not, you're young, and a woman, so you can always change your mind if it doesn't work out. (Joking about woman.) Good luck!

I strongly recommend pursuit of an internship for its door opening possibilities. Internships not only grant informational access that textbooks don’t but lend work experience and a great opportunity to land a mentor if you’ve not one already.

Don’t be afraid to don your investigative hat and identify local talent whose work you admire. Connect with them via SM if possible to seek their guidance. It’s definitely a possibility since I made a campaign out of snagging an interview with a woman who went on to become mayor of Houston when brand new to the industry.
