How can I best prepare myself for a career in character design for animation pre-production and writing industry?

I am planning to go to art college to major in animation and character design.

If you’re truly interested in animation, that’s a great career choice. But it’s also a challenging path. You’ll need strong drawing skills, imagination, and creativity, because character design is not just about drawing well — it’s about creating characters with personality and stories behind them.

Art college can help you build those skills, but you should also practice a lot on your own. Study anatomy, storytelling, and different animation styles, and keep creating original characters to improve your portfolio.

It will be a hard journey, but if you really love it and keep working at it, it can be very rewarding. Keep practicing and good luck!
