Start by reaching out directly to aquariums, marine mammal rescue centers, and zoos with marine animals places like SeaWorld or your closest coastal aquarium. Experience matters a lot in this field, so if you can't land a paid internship right away, volunteer at an animal shelter or wildlife rehabilitation center to build your hands-on experience. Getting into a pre-vet or biology program in college strengthens your application significantly. Also connect with marine veterinarians on LinkedIn and ask for informational interviews most people are willing to give advice and those conversations can turn into real opportunities. The earlier you start building experience with animals the better.
