Hi Karabo,

I am assuming you are in high-school, or maybe you just got your senior certificate (matric)? For the most part, your high-school subjects don't tie you to a specific career. You can change direction if you want to, so please explore options that interest you.

Having said that, your subjects would be a really good fit for the hospitality and tourism industry. You could e.g. work at a restaurant or at a hotel. You could work for a travel agency, become a tour guide or work at a national park. You could go to hotel school or a TVET college or you could study hospitality management at a university. I left a few links for you below.

I hope this helps! All the best to you!

Hi Karabo!

It's amazing that you have such fascinating interests! It reminds me of an architecture tour I took in Chicago, where I learned so much about architecture and history. I think these topics connect well with what you love! Our guide was a high school teacher, and if you're interested in teaching, history could be a great way to share your passions with others. Plus, geography and tourism offer a unique perspective on history!

Nadia’s Answer

Hi Karabo,
two options came to my mind after reading your post; however, each of them may cover your interests partially.
1. Architect/Civil Engineer - depending on a curriculum, you may specialize in some areas that are closer to your hobbies. Such as designing or constructing buildings like museums, renovations of historical buildings or staying at university and teaching some of your preferred classes.
2. Geodesy and Geoinformatics - these one are less popular, but still interesting combinations of math, geography and a bit of a tourism if you are lucky enough to be part of abroad projects :)
Good luck!
