What should I do to prepare myself?

What books or things should I do to prepare myself as a 15 year old girl that has decided to be a pediatrician?

Below are my suggestions :
1. Attend information session hours by pediatrician department or medical school to understand the course requirements and entry criteria
2. Select the relevant subjects in high school and work hard to meet the criteria
3. Explore intern opportunities working in medical area
4. Read medical related articles and news

It's great that you are thinking ahead about how to become a pediatrician. As you probably know, you need to go to college first, then medical school and then do a residency in pediatrics. One important thing you can do now is to let your school counselors and teachers know what your plans and goals are. It is important that you are taking the right courses in high school -- ones to prepare you to do well in college. Be sure to take biology, advanced biology (if your school offers it), chemistry, math through at least trigonometry and, if your school offers it, physics. My personal recommendation is to take Spanish, if you don't already speak it well. If you are able to take AP classes or dual-enroll in community college, this will also be helpful preparation for being a pre-medical student in college. If you find yourself struggling academically, speak up and ask for tutoring or other academic support.

Meanwhile, try to confirm your interest in working with children by finding settings in which you can work or volunteer with kids. I suggest you get certified as a babysitter though your local Red Cross or YMCA. Get CPR certified including learning CPR for kids and babies. Start by seeing if family friends or neighbors are in need of child care or babysitting. Other places to look for work or volunteer opportunities working with children are summer camps, parks and recreation programs in your city or local elementary schools. Good luck to you on this exciting career choice!

Check with your local hospital's volunteer department. They often have teen volunteer opportunities. You can request working with children but even if that is not possible, I think any time spent in health care settings with any age patients will be helpful in confirming your career decision..
