Where is the best place for a professional dancer to live?

I'm looking to major in dance and want to go somewhere where I will opportunities after college #dance #majors

Hi Lauren,


This is a great question. There are a ton of dance opportunities all over the country. The largest areas would be New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Las Vegas and San Francisco, however there are many companies who do not have a "home base" and are constantly traveling.


It also would depend on the styles you would like to continue in. For example, New York is most known for Broadway and jazz, San Francisco is more modern, and Los Angeles is more commercial based.


I would suggest looking into the type of college dance program you would like to be in, based on style, education, and type of school / life balance you would like. This will help you find a location you would like to be in. The location of your school also does not fully limit you on where you would like to go after. If you would like to go to school in your own state and move after to start auditioning and dancing with companies that is always possible.
