Richard’s Answer

Hey Tochukwu,

Cloud security and collaboration are two very exciting and emerging industries.

Security:

As the Cloud is getting integrated into more and more companies (Public, Private, and Hybrid), a need to secure those is becoming more and more important. As a security engineer, you would be responsible for maintaining and securing those networks.

Collaboration:

A way to digitally connect with your colleagues and customers on a worldwide landscape is becoming more and more important. Cloud technologies like Zoom, Webex, or BlueJeans are making that possible with video and collaborative tools.

There are definitely opportunities to architect, support, and innovate in both of these fields.

Richard recommends the following next steps:

Research technical marketing trends and see what interests you
Find ways to learn more about that field, there are lots of free online courses out there to learn Python, and other technologies.

Shamit’s Answer

This is a great time to be a data scientist. This field is evolving at fast pace, every year there are new things to learn and newer problems to solve.

Even couple of years ago, this would not have been possible : http://www.whichfaceisreal.com/index.php (A model that generates images that look like a real person).

Some of the things that are cutting edge are :

  1. Platforms that make Machine Learning easier and more accessible (Such as https://colab.research.google.com/ and https://eng.uber.com/introducing-ludwig/)
  2. Models that collaborate to solve difficult problem. For example StarCraft game where player has limited information and has to plan for long term. https://deepmind.com/blog/alphastar-mastering-real-time-strategy-game-starcraft-ii/
  3. Models that learn automatically from large amount of data http://www.whichfaceisreal.com/index.php , https://deepmind.com/blog/wavenet-generative-model-raw-audio/

Judy’s Answer

Talk about cutting edge technology and data science, the company I work for is leading the industry. We're all about innovation and just announced our latest and greatest innovation that will change the world -- WiFi6! Check out one of our network security product lines called Stealthwatch. It uses hundreds of algorithms to baseline network behavior to identify threat actors. You might also be interested in our Talos Security Intelligence & Research Group blogs.
