According to the information published by my local community college in Texas,

"The job market for welders and cutters continues to expand with about 1,600 new job openings forecast across the state annually. Depending on the application, welders can make starting wages anywhere from $6-$25 per hour. Refinery work or pipeline contractors can make close to $30-$35 per hour."

All depends the company and experience you will have. Some of the railroad companies sub contract and can pay up to $18 dollars per hour.
