Hi Gokila! Check with the law enforcement agency in your area. Many of them have young cadet programs for youth and some agencies allow citizens to do ride-a-longs.

Hi Gokila!

Education requirements are just one part of it. Please do everything you can to also work on your writing skills. Report writing is a VERY big part of the job. Physical conditioning is important too!

Also, you must have good character. Pay your bills on time, don't have questionable things on your FB page, watch who you hang out with, don't do drugs or drink too much.

Have a way to deal with stress. That is usually a question asked during the applicant processing phase. They will want to know what you do when you are stressed, because parts of the job are very stressful.

best of luck to you!

Hi Gokila!

The answer to : How to Become a Police Officer or Detective is briefly:

Education requirements range from a high school diploma to a college degree. Most police and detectives must graduate from their agency’s training academy before completing a period of on-the-job training. Candidates must be U.S. citizens, usually at least 21 years old, and able to meet rigorous physical and personal qualifications.
