Alonso, I can tell you will be an engineer one day! Cars are amazing machines, and are just getting started! I work on old cars as a hobby, and was one of the reasons I studied mechanical engineering. The best part of both is solving problems. It's satisfying to see a problem, diagnose it, try to fix it, fail, and eventually get it right! That's true for cars as well as design challenges or business problems.

What makes an engine run better? What if the fuel / air mix os not right? How are electronics changing cars? these are so much fun to study.

Even engines like you say...there are lots of great internal combustion engines, from little four cylinders to big V-8's. They are best at high RPM. But electric cars are coming, and their electric motors run best at zero or low speeds, since the impellers have the most torque at zero speed. See the link below.

Study engineering, and this can be the stuff that you fix over time!

Mike recommends the following next steps:

Daniel’s Answer

Speaking as an average consumer who enjoys living above his means, what interests me most about cars is it's basic reliability at a reasonable price.
Cars tht last less than 10 years before needing a major overhaul do not interest me. That and all of the fancy bells and whistles that take a $15,000 4 cylinder and Jack the price up to $30,000.
If a car can be simple, reliable, comfortable, and economic,
(and above all easy to fix when something breaks down, than I have found the love of my life. Annd secure in the knowledge that. I have
exactly what I need,😎 .
