Steven’s Answer

The answers so far are quite general, so let me offer a couple of narrower viewpoints.

First, I’ve decided to go vegan for my health. My doctor has told me that I have high cholesterol, high LDL levels and high triglycerides. Despite the fact that I’m not grossly overweight, I’ve decided to make this change to allow me to worry less about having major medical problems in the near future and when my golden years approach (I’m 47 years old).

Second, my employer has decided to “cut the fat” and has decided to eliminate “surplus” positions. So, any job function they deem no longer necessary will be eliminated and those employees holding those positions will need to retire or find a position within the company.

So far my business unit hasn’t seen widespread surplus positions, but you have to read the writing on the wall and plan for the eventuality that my position could be seen as no longer necessary by senior management. My options are to either find a new position in the industry or update my skillset to make more marketable within my own company or to the industry in general and hope that I can secure a job that makes me feel that my job is secure for the foreseeable future.

What makes a person change depends on both opportunity, need, desire, financial resources, support from family and friends, fear, age and I’m sure there are a few others I’ve missed.

Micaela’s Answer

I think the best answer to that question is life. Life is every changing and just when you get into a groove or a schedule, life throws a monkey wrench and throws you for a loop. However, there is also an intrinsic need for change that can happen to individuals as well in order to benefit themselves differently.

Michelle’s Answer

Xica, as we experience new things, our likes and dislikes change. This makes us change our minds about goals and where we want to go in life. Change is good. Experience what you can...and pick what is good for you, what you find fun. That is what you do in life...work should be fun and enjoyable.

Best of luck.
