From the time we’re small children, we’re encouraged to consider the question of what we want to become when we grow up. By high school, you probably have an idea of what career you’d like to pursue, or at least several options that sound interesting. That career plan is an important consideration when you’re choosing a college you want to find a school that will prepare you effectively for the career of your choice.
INTERNSHIP ADVICE
Students can also benefit from internships. Not only do they gain experience in their field, but they will also meet with people who can serve as references for them. Although high school students may not be able to land a paid internship, the experience that they will gain will be priceless. If you can find an internship that interests them, it won’t seem like work, but just a fun way to spend their time and gain new skills.
SCHOLARSHIP ADVICE
Billions of college scholarship money goes unused every year. There are plenty of reasons why, but here’s one that’s candid enough: laziness. It’s the cold, hard truth. Many high school students simply refuse to pursue grant and scholarship money, and that’s simply unacceptable. Apply for as many grants as you can. Broaden your network. And make sure you check all local sources for grant money.

When factoring in all of the details involved in picking a college, many students don’t know where to start. It can be daunting; numerous students panic and overanalyze the fact that whichever college they choose will be where they would, potentially, spend the next four years of their life. This is a forum were can ask for advice to help you decide which aspects of your dream school are most important, and then find a school that most closely fits what you want out of your college experience.
PROFESSIONALS CAREER ADVICE
Talking with someone who is experienced in a particular field can help your high school student know if that profession is something they would like to do or not. By talking with experienced people, the students can gain an idea of the educational route to take, the area in which to reside, and even the salary expectations.
SKY IS THE LIMIT
Definition: It means the potential is limitless. Just as the sky seems neverending and infinite.

Assuming that you are wondering what the purpose of Career Village is, it is a place for people to ask advice from others. Typically young students (although anyone can ask) will post questions on this forum, and adults who are qualified to answer the questions will respond with advice. The questions range from asking for career advice to asking for advice about the transition into college life.

Hi Geneviene! This is a place where you can ask questions about a particular career you might be interested in after high school. Even if you don't know what you might want to do yet, this website is a good place to explore and read other people's questions/answers. You can also ask a general question about working or advice on how to narrow down your career search. It could help to do a career interest survey (ask your teacher for a link!) or you could list some of your interests here and see if professionals on this site have any suggestions. Good luck!
