Estelle’s Answer

Hi, Ally. I am a gynecologic surgeon, and have been in practice for 30 years. I trained in obstetrics and gynecology and used to deliver babies as well, but now I just practice gynecology. I perform 3-4 major surgeries one day per week and 2-3 minor procedures 1 day per week. I perform surgeries to remove the uterus, the ovaries, ovarian cysts. I perform tubal ligations and bladder suspensions. So, I'm not exactly sure what you are asking...How many procedures or what type. This should answer both of those questions.
Good luck!

P’s Answer

Hi there! Great question. I’m not a surgeon but I work with them closely and often scrub into interesting surgeries. They number of surgeries you do varies based on the type of surgeon you are. So a general surgeon may do a lot of appendix and gallbladder and tumor removal. A cardiothoracic surgeon will do heart surgeries or lung surgeries which can be longer so they may do less numbers. If you do transplant surgeries those can take 6-12 hours depending on how complex the surgery is and how sick the patient is.

On the other had a dermatology surgeon may do surgeries that only take an hour each.

I hope this answers your question.
