This APP serves as a platform for students/job searchers to seek advice from volunteer teachers/professionals/industry experts.

Regarding procrastination, it is pretty common. You may put away stuff that keeps you distracted, such as your cellphone, to keep you focused on your assignment. You may also go to a library or self-study room to immerse yourself in a study environment if you want to work on your coursework. Ask your family or friends to remind you of your tasks regularly or even push you a little bit.

It is also advised to keep a proper schedule of your pending tasks. Assess how much time/effort you need for each of the tasks and set a clear deadline. People often tend to underestimate the time needed for a certain assignment. Try to set aside some "buffer" for each of the tasks.

Hope the above helps you. :)

Dr. James’s Answer

In regards to your question, careervillage is a great place to seek advice from those who have experience. Never be afraid to ask for advice. If possible, find a mentor who can guide you and provide the encouragement you need to be successful.
As for procrastination, everyone feels that way every so often. One thing I can tell you is never let things pile up on you. It will make you want to keep kicking the can down the road and not want to do it.

Hi Synsi! If you could please clarify what you mean by app maybe then I and others can provide a more definitive answer. However if you mean CareerVillage, it is a platform for students to ask questions about their career choices, working, college, etc; basically to get information to help students become independent in their career path and be sure of their choices!
Also I think we can all procrastinate, so something that helps me is to put my phone away, do my work in blocks, take breaks after about an hour of studying-5 to 10 mins- and also reward myself with something I love after completing my work.

I hope this helps!
Best of luck!

Hi Synsi,

I think that my peers have given great information on this platform.

Procrastination is something that we all do at different times in our lives. The challenge for you is not to let it be a guiding part of your life. Procrastination in my life has mainly come from when I have considered a task too big to tackle. The challenge with battling procrastination is to figure out how to get over it. What I try to do is break the work to be done down into smaller steps. Instead of thinking about graduation in four years, I thought about the best path to my degree. That meant trying to figure out my first class. Then I had to figure out the smallest details - how am I going to get to class? I learned early on that I had to work around routines that worked for me. Over time, I learned that I am better at learning in the morning. I learned that I studied well in the evening and that I am mostly useless in the early afternoon. That is true to do this day. I still struggle with breaking down tasks into small steps, but I always feel better when I do that work.
