Alyssa’s Answer

Hey Liam!

It's so amazing that you have such a specific dream/ aspiration. That's one of the most important things somebody could want in the first place, so congratulations on that. The best way to learn is truly from experience. I would encourage you to watch some videos (even just Youtube videos) on the anatomy of cars, and then I would say to ask people who own garages near you if you could shadow them, or perhaps, even work with or for them.

I wish you the best of luck!

Garrett’s Answer

Hi Liam!

To fix vehicles you would need to pursue classes to be a mechanic as well as get hands on experience with automotive parts. I would suggest looking in your local community for those in the role to perhaps take you on as an apprentice as well to help around the workshop and gain their knowledge.

You need to hire a team that has the experience to run the workshop.
You need to have a garage and the required tools to provide the services.
This is a start point

This is a very respectable field to be a part of. One main thing that you always want to remember is that Honesty and Integrity go a long way. With many years experience and have seen many successful Mechanic shops, I have found that it pays to just do the right thing. One key element to become a good shop owner is to always be willing to learn from others and from changing with the times to stay up[dated on new technology and ideas. I have been affiliated with great mechanics and shop owners and the ones that always come to my head first is the ones that fixed the issues but was honest about what was wrong and what it needed, to this day I deal with the same shops not because they are the cheapest but because of trust. You will need to school and learn with several hours of hands on learning and paying attention and asking questions why things work the way they do. Invest in good tools they will last a lifetime and educate through all means you can, do not be afraid to start at the bottom and work for someone for the experience.
Thank you comment icon I appreciate that answer, I will look forward on going to schools that will help me with my dream. Liam
