HI!

This is super cool. Social media is definitely the way to go . It helps to market yourself and to just kind of let people know who you are. People love to connect online and social media gives others a chance to peek into your life and who you are and what you like or do not like. You can start by vlogging on YouTube very regular stuff like "A Day in the life.." and let them follow you through a typical day. Record some photoshoots, or how you get ready for them. People like to feel exclusive so giving peeks into to cool content will help get your followers up for sure. Be very active, interactive and engaging online with you Instagram. Go live, ask questions, do polls, let ppl ask you questions and post the question and your answer in your story. There are lots of ways to go about this. Plan your content there are things like Seesmic where you can draft tweets and posts ahead of time to go up online at a specific time on its own. Totally doable and can pick up quickly! YOU GOT THIS!

Hello Clarence,

Social media has taken off into the stratosphere, providing options for just about anyone to rise to stardom. However, I am not a social media expert. I suggest you contact someone who specializes in social media to give you some advice. Best of luck! MG

Hey Clarence!

That sounds SO cool that you've been able to study abroad, and that you're interested in pursuing vlogging/ a social media related path. Truly, social media has taken over the world, so it's a great thing to pursue. When it comes to vlogging and growing a following even more importantly, it is important to find your niche. This means finding what you, or what kind of knowledge, more so, can offer people, and how you can present it differently than your competition, or other vloggers, do. What do you have to say? That's the first big question. Maybe you want to teach about makeup! Maybe you want to simply be a motivational speaker via Youtube. That's what you have to start thinking of first.

Then, PLAN PLAN PLAN. Plan your content. Plan out a ton of different video ideas, and then film and edit quite a few ahead of time so that you can post consistently and on a set timeline.

Find Youtubers who you love. Brainstorm what they're doing right! Take inspiration from them.

Best of luck with everything!!!

Clarence,

Kumusta ka. I hope you are having a great day.

Thank you for your thoughtful question. I like how Christina also encouraged you to stay active and be interactive on social media. Some of my favorite online personalities are those who interact with their followers, take polls, ask open ended questions and take time to respond to their fans. Some will end their post with "Any thoughts?" or "Tell me what you think," etc.

Consider using hashtags and chiming in on important social issues. I.e., right now, there's a lot on social media regarding StopAsianHate and StopAAPI hate. Some are sharing the hashtags and perhaps photos of them holding up a sign with these hashtags. But in addition to this share why it's important to you or your own personal experiences and suggestions for making a positive impact.

Also, social media can be a powerful tool but also a scary place. Beware of the negative comments people can make online and try not to take them personally. While I think constructive feedback is important, there are also a lot of negative people who post comments without thinking of others. Don't base your success on these.

Best wishes to you and keep asking questions so others can help you in your career and educational goals!

Salamat po.
