Leon’s Answer

The average 2018 salary in the US for a person with a BS in Computer Science is about 60K. See Internet article:

http://time.com/money/collection-post/3829776/heres-what-the-average-grad-makes-right-out-of-college/

But I can tell you from years of personal experience there are many reasons why the salary might be a little higher or a lot lower. I was working in Tampa FL as a Release Engineer making a good salary because of my years of experience. I found an opportunity in Boston MA and worked at the same position. Because Boston's cost of living is so much higher then Tampa I made 25% more just to break even. Now the Information Technology (IT) positions are so specialized your salary could depend on what courses you took in college and mastered.

Also, it depends on the hours the company requires you to work. Some IT positions are on-call 365/24/7. If you take the salary and divide it by the number of hours worked, a lower paying job might have been better for your family life, etc.

Another factor is the quality of life at work. When I was working a Arbella Insurance in Boston the company was awarded eight consecutive years "one of the best companies to work for in Boston" . The reason for winning these rewards was because all of the activities that were offered during working hours (games during lunch, time off to volunteer for community projects, employees awards, parties for special occasions, etc.) .

So you can see there is more to a job than just the salary.

Leon recommends the following next steps:

Research what computer science courses are needed most by employers. The technology changes every year.
When you have completed school and ready for employment, research companies before accepting a position.

Daniel’s Answer

Depends a lot on country, region within the country, and specific field (and company).

A basic tech job in Beijing will make less than 20k USD per year. A starting software engineer at Facebook in SV is probably pushing about 140k right out of undergrad, and growing to 2x that in 5 years or so.

Davor’s Answer

You need to be more specific... In the US salaries can range widely based on the location and the specific job. It will also differ if you have experience (for example it is easy to contribute to Open Source projects) or not. I saw salaries from around $35k, but I also saw salaries of $80k as a start.
To get a more precise number you can research glassdoor.com web page.
