Kartik’s Answer

Hey Christine,

Psychologist and psychiatrist are different profession .
Psychologist require bachelor + Masters in psychology
Psychiatrist requires MBBS+MD (psychiatry).
There are also Clinical psychologist for which you require MPhil is clinical psychology.
Psychologist doesn't prescribe medicine , psychiatrist does , and to pursue MBBS you require biology as a subject in 12th.

Some of the other common field are industrial and organisational psychologist , educational , career , relationship geriatric , teen , developmental, sports, disability related .

Some of lesser established field are positive psychology, criminal psychology , experimental , oncology ,cyber etc (these are lesser established in the way that you come across less jobs compare to common ) .

There are many more fields as other shared check it online . Do consider your values and expectations while considering the stream.
As psychologist work in different places
certain work environment not always suits everyone .

See if you can take an intro course at a community college. Psychology/Psychiatry are massively large buckets of potential jobs and clientele. It is an entire world and I truly do not believe you will find a specific traditional course that can cover them.

Check out the APA.org webpage and look at the various divisions they have within their organization. I believe there are well over 100 "specialties"
