How to get a job at Pixar studios?
I'm a high school senior and i want to get a job at Pixar studios in the future and i would like to know how people get accepted to that studio. #career #job #career-choice #career-counseling

Hi Elen,
Do your research. I know someone who wanted to work at Disney in a specific role and looked into Disney's hiring practices. Where did they usually hire for this role? She went to a university that was a conduit for hiring people in the Animation studios and works at Disney today. Now just attending that a particular university is not enough. You have to do the hard work. But there is exposure there that allows you an opportunity to be seen. See what you can find out about Pixar. And consider what role you want to play. I am assuming digital animation is a passion or maybe film making. Either way, you need to be good at what you do. The bar is high at a company like Pixar. Make sure to work hard at whatever your chosen skill is and be very good. That means challenge yourself. Share your work and get feedback constantly. Learn to handle criticism, to be proud of your work but not devastated when your work is not accepted.
Lastly, I would say aim for Pixar but don't limit yourself to Pixar. I did watch the Pixar series on Disney+ about the various ways people got into Pixar. It is one company - a great one - but one company that does what it does. My company hirers animators and we don't make movies, we train people. A focus on the skills that you want to use in a career is more important than trying to work at a particular company.

I would really like to know what is it that you'd like about working at Pixar, and what do you imagine yourself doing there. And the reason I pose these questions it to help you narrow down your career path options in order to one day make it to Pixar. From a quick look at the company's career site, they have a broad range of open positions like security/safety officers, marketing, software, animation, etc. You should, however, pick a career based on what passionates you and not based on a specific company. That is because companies come and go. Also, equally important, you should consider things like what is the outlook/demand for this career in the next 10-20 years, salary range, and what is the career ladder for that specific field.
