Here is a list of companies that use six sigma.

I would recommend to see the commonalities with the listed companies and see which fit your background. Also, do not limit yourself to the above, in my opinion there may be opportunities with companies that do similar work from the list provided above or other lists and they may eagerly want six sigma certified candidates.

Mariana’s Answer

The healthcare field has incorporated quality improvement methodologies such Six Sigma in the last few decades. The operational success of hospitals and large practices depend on the quality of their processes. This methodology is also commonly implemented in quality improvement projects within the Health Insurance companies such as Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan and its subsidiaries. Companies developing new products and services will often apply this methodology as part of their project management initiatives. The Dow Chemical Company is an international manufacturing company that also utilizes and focus their delivery on this methodology. It is a great tool to master and provides many professional opportunities across different fields.

Tracey’s Answer

Several of the Medical device companies in the Mpls/St. Paul area use Lean Six Sigma Management. Although they do tend to customize the programs to fit their management styles, however, the basics are the same. I agree with the other responder that the America Society for Quality is a good www.asq.com resource.

Joanna’s Answer

This is a great question without a concrete answer. There are several companies around the nation that apply six sigma and/or quality management. Several companies claim to believe in this philosophy on their websites but be careful. You can always sniff out those that truly follow the philosophy vs. do a couple projects a year just so they can say they do six sigma. It is all about the people and empowering those that do the work vs a top down approach. You can easily sniff this organizations out during interviews or even tour of the factory floor or business. Disney is a great organization for this philosophy. Majority of automotive companies follow this as well.

Hope this helps!
