If you study something that's very focused then you may have challenges if that industry isn't doing well and your degree doesn't apply as much in other industries. You may want to consider a broader degree that can be applicable to industries outside of automotive. Mechanical and electrical engineering degrees are very applicable in the Automotive as well as many other industries.
