You live in El Paso Texas. The average wage is $14 an hour according to ZipRecruiter.com. That's way below the national average of $18 an hour and below the Santa Clara County CA average of $19 an hour (although companies would have a hard time finding employees here for that amount). A senior construction engineer here is paid $114,000 a year, a regional construction manager is paid $129k (or $62 an hour). This really depends on your skillset though and whether you are in a union. I'm not sure how unionized your region is, but here union electricians make $65 an hour.

Entry level positions range from 12-26$ and hour. You'll have to make a choice between commercial, industrial, construction, maintenance and turnaround/shutdown work.
