Was the learning process hard to become a Dental Hygienist?
Is this career the type to have you staying up late night stressed for exams or classwork ?

The program will challenge you! It is not an easy program but rewarding. As far as exams and classwork, it totally depend on your type of learning style. I knew a student at the time that had photographic memory and she studied less than anyone in her class but maintain good grades. Other students have to study more than others. As for me, I was a little too serious, lol. I studied every chance I had, I stayed up late, I also stressed. I never met anyone in the program that was not stressed or did not cry. Just make sure you take some time for yourself and take care of you while in the program. Study hard, but don't stress over the little things. You will have multiple competencies, quizzes, exams while in the program. You are learning, so do not beat yourself up to be perfect! You will look back and think, differently. Also, finding patients can be challenging during clinic days. You can start asking people by asking on Facebook, go to the homeless shelter, local church, local restaurants, family members, family friends. See what the requirements are and make your search based on what you need. I was upfront with the time that was required for the appointment. Just tell them their mouth will not be open for 3-4 hours lol. My program only charged patients $10 but included everything. The fee will vary depending on the program.
Have as much fun as you can before you start the program! To minimize stress, make sure you have a good planner and STAY ORAGINZED from the 1st day. Try to rest, eat healthy snacks ( to fuel your body) and stay hydrated to have good focus. Also, try to plan selfcare activities for yourself every now and than. You deserve it!
