Hi Anthony:
4 years minimum. I encourage you to volunteer, intern, work for your local State or Federal agency, conservation nonprofit, or anything hands-on in the community. Enroll in courses outside your major necessary for a professional career: media relations, writing for non-scientists, public speaking, grant writing, working with communities, social media, writing press releases and news releases, web design.

I hope this helps!

Hi Anthony,

Zoology, how wonderful. I think I would have enjoyed that too.

You find a list of top colleges that offer a zoology major here:

https://www.usnews.com/best-colleges/zoology-major-2607

Check out for each school the options in terms of what the program offers, entrance requirements, cost of tuition and availability of scholarships. Also to consider, distance from home/family or interest in that particular area - whatever is more important for you.

In terms of campus beauty UCSB is hard to beat. San Diego and University of Florida are also very nice.

Getting your bachelors typically takes 4 years. Once you have your bachelors, you can do a Masters (maybe 2 years) and a PhD (4-5 years). Check which degree is necessary for the kind of position you will be targeting.

Good luck!
