A simple answer is that it is wise to be respectful of everyone at all times. Someone once told me you can choose the low road or the high road in all situations. If someone is rude to you, they are choosing the low road, but you can choose the high road in showing respect by listening and wishing them the best. Chances are, it will also make you feel good.
