Daniela’s Answer

Hi Dora,

I graduated in Pedagogy and I work in the social area with people development. What can I say of my activity is that it is extremely rewarding. I basically work as a social educator to:

- Support people in their development so that they can develop and resolve their individual or problems with your community;

· - Seek through pedagogical activities of reflection, enhance the skills of each, enabling the learner to decide for yourself;

I work in partnership with organizations and philanthropic entities by developing and implementing educational projects, geared to the needs and wishes of children, youth, adults, teachers and the school community.

It is the professional duty of the social sector to present competencies to reflect, intervene and evaluate situations of improvements for individuals and social groups. In addition, this professional should be used to your experience and knowledge as a way to improve the quality of life of individuals, their families and the community in vulnerable situations.

Work in the social area, it is to act with purpose of cause. A cause you believe in, value and above all, love.

I hope this can inspire you!!!

Subbaiah’s Answer

Thank you for this question. I have learned that there are evil people in the world. I have also learned that god has created angels who are in the form of other people. Some people say I have saved lives. There is no greater reward in the world than that. The job is exhausting because I have never fully learned not to take it home. But I have learned other things; the importance of learning to be kind all the times, the importance of listening and really trying to understand. What does it mean to me? That can be working and working to be the best person I can be.

It is very interesting - never boring. Sometimes very rewarding too with fun included. Sometimes devastating and heartbreaking.

Working with people who need help is not an easy job, so you have to stay dedicated to the cause. At times you will feel discouraged because not everyone who needs help accepts or appreciates it; sometimes it takes a good amount of time to see that change in the behavior in your client. I learnt that it is all about the journey, as long as I gave it my everything and knew that I had done my part. There will always be one client who appreciates what you do for them.

Other thing, social work doesn't always pay you well. So if you get into the money, you can feel easily frustrated. So if you are in the field of social work, you need to love it to be the best in it..:)
