In my 21-year journey as a federal agent, I've managed to dodge being tased, not even once! But, oh boy, I have had my share of pepper spray encounters. It's not the worst thing in the world, but it's definitely not on my list of fun activities. Haha!
I can't say that I've ever heard of a police department tasing prospective recruits during an initial tryout or fitness test. Not all police departments use tasers. However, the ones that do may taser recruits at least once during the training phase to educate them on the use of non-lethal force. It gives them an idea of the effects of a taser on the human body and how it should and not not be used.

Kyan,
I'm not sure exactly what you mean by "police tryouts", so I'll answer it this way. Maybe.
In the police academy here in NYS, taser certification is not a part of that training. My department offers taser certification to those officers interested in carrying a taser (which I think should be done by all officers). During this training, you will be tased. You can either be shot by the darts, or have the probes clipped to your body. Either way, it sucks :)
What this does is gives you full understanding how it can stop a suspect, and how long you have to "safely" handcuff them. But keep in mind, the taser doesnt always work.
Hope this answers your question.

Hello Kyan, even though this isn't my area of expertise, it's probable that many individuals in this line of work have experienced being tased. It might not be the most pleasant situation, but it's certainly beneficial to understand what you're dealing with. This knowledge can help you educate others and promote responsible use of the device. Wishing you all the best!

In police training, officers learn how to use Tasers effectively and safely, but they don’t typically get tased during tryouts. The use of Tasers is governed by evolving case law, which sets standards for their deployment. For instance, courts have ruled that Tasers should only be used when there’s an immediate safety risk that can be reasonably addressed by using the Taser. Nonviolent offenses or situations without active physical resistance generally don’t warrant Taser deployment12. So, while officers don’t experience being tased during training, they do receive comprehensive instruction on Taser use and related legal and ethical considerations
