Monique’s Answer

Many non-profits focus on supporting orphans and their education. Research organizations in your area or nationally that might offer financial assistance. There are also numerous organizations offer scholarships tailored for students who are orphans or facing financial adversity. Websites like Scholarships.com, Fastweb, and Unigo allow you to filter searches based on your criteria.
Thank you comment icon Monique is correct, there are many programs and aid for individuals who were orphaned. Definitely consult with your school counselor or community outreach programs NRCMA Scott Hughes

Sofia’s Answer

Hello Malem c: It is great that u are looking into it, from my experience there are a couple of different options that u can research:

1. Scholarships
-Many universities offer financial support for students in difficult circumstances, nationally or internationally. Look for scholarships offered at orphaned or financially disadvantaged students.
-Also some governments offer financial support for scholarships to students, if u are from Nigeria you can check the Nigerian Scholarship Scheme or the Tertiary Education Trust Fund
2. Charities
3. Funding platforms, I know of GoFundMe, yet there may be other online funding sites that help raise money for this purpose
4. Work-Study Programs
5. Student Loans

I suggest you making a document maybe in word or excel and start putting all the information that you find that may be of help, all the sites you find, programs, the cost of each option (if any), highlight the options that adjust the most to your needs and start filtering them until you find the right options for you. Apply to as much programs as you can, and look up videos on social media of other Nigerian students who share their experience and how they got to find support for their studies so you can have an idea of what to do.

Good Luck c:

Heather’s Answer

Hello Malem,
Your schools student counselor should be able to lead you to some local resources. If you are over 18, you may want to try your local county offices. They may have special programs in the area that can assist financially and help you get to your future goals. Good Luck to you!

Hey Malem! 🙌 It’s great that you're taking the step to look for financial support – there are definitely options out there for students like you who need help with funding. Here’s a rundown of how to find financial support:

### 1. **Look for Scholarships**
There are tons of scholarships specifically for orphans, so start by researching. Here are a few places to look:
- **Scholarships.com**
- **Fastweb**
- **Unigo**
They allow you to filter searches based on your criteria, so you can find ones specifically for students in your situation.

### 2. **Charities & Foundations**
Many organizations provide financial help for orphans. A few worth checking out are:
- **Islamic Relief USA** – They help with food, education, and healthcare for orphans.
- **The Miracle Foundation** – They work internationally to support orphans and children.
- **Global Orphan Care** – Offers an orphan sponsorship program.

### 3. **Government Programs**
You can also look into government assistance like:
- **Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF)** – Provides cash assistance for low-income families.
- **Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP)** – Helps with energy bills.

### 4. **School Counselor**
Your school counselor can be a huge help! They often know of local resources and programs, and can guide you toward financial aid that’s available in your area.

### 5. **Consider Crowdfunding**
If you’ve exhausted other options, sometimes turning to the community through crowdfunding platforms like **GoFundMe** can help get you the support you need. You can share your story, and people may want to help fund your education.

Stay positive and keep looking for opportunities! 🌟 You're already taking a big step by reaching out for help. Keep going, and if you need more advice, feel free to ask. You got this! 💪
