How big is the social aspect while being an Orthodontist?

I am a sophomore at Antwerp Local Highschool. I am interested in going to college for Orthodontics. I am unsure yet whether or not I would like to only be an assistant, but these are the types of questions that might sway my opinions.

Thank you comment icon Orthodontics and dentofacial orthopedics is a cutting edge field, please stay motivated and work hard- you will end up accomplishing this goal today. Arnaaz Dhillon

A fantastic way to find out what any job entails is to spend time shadowing an orthodontist, then you will have a really good idea of what their job is like.

Romina’s Answer

Hello Maclaren! There are certain areas of orthodontics that have a significant impact not only on society but also on public health policy. Interceptive or preventative orthodontics is one of them, as it not only prevents self-esteem problems at the most vulnerable stage, but also alleviates the burden on patients who require invasive orthodontic treatments, such as orthognathic surgery.
I am a certified interceptive orthodontic surgeon, and the ability to change facial growth patterns before puberty or adolescence is incredible.
I hope I have helped you and good luck in your professional path.
