What internships should I be looking for if I'm interested in medical illustration?

I'm a sophomore in college and I'm interested in medical illustration and have been trying to find internships within this however, some internships I've seen already require some type of expertise within the practice.

Hi Mya,

That's an exciting career path that combines medical knowledge with artistic talent. Since you are still early in your program, you could look for medical internships and volunteer opportunities as well as artistic ones.

I found a few internships for you. If it doesn't work out this year, keep them in mind for next year:

https://www.calacademy.org/biological-illustration-internship

You can look for universities, research institutions, professional medical societies and publishers of medical books for opportunities. Most would probably expect some skills e.g. with Adobe software or with 3D printing. If you are not yet fluent in Photoshop et al, you could also look for internships where you can learn or enhance those skills, e.g. in graphical design or advertising.

I hope this helps! All the best to you!
