What is the best way to utilize my career to support our Earth and help climate change?
The current state of our world is very worrying, and it has me wondering if there is any way I'm able to help. I've never been interested in going into politics, but what ways can I use my voice to help, even if it's just in my state. Should I reach out to Representatives? What initiatives could I organize? It's kind of distressing not doing anything :(
P.S. I'm not sure if this would be helpful, but I'm very interested in computer science and math. If there's any way I can utilize the skills I've gained through these courses, please let me know.

When I was in high school, I had similar concerns about climate change and how to make a difference. That led me to study civil-environmental engineering. But honestly, there are so many ways to contribute!
You definitely don’t need to go into politics to have an impact. Here are a few ways you can use your voice and skills to support the Earth and fight climate change:
-Data is powerful. Data science plays a huge role in sustainability. We need accurate, real-time data to track progress; for example, in carbon accounting. I’ve seen more and more “sustainability analyst” roles popping up in my company lately, many of which require strong data and computer skills.
-Corporate change matters. Don’t underestimate the influence you can have working inside a large company. Corporations are responsible for a huge portion of global emissions, and now more than ever, they need passionate people like you and me to drive more sustainable practices.
-Use your voice locally. Yes, reaching out to local or state representatives is a great step! They don’t hear from young voices nearly enough. You could also organize community clean-ups, environmental awareness campaigns, or charity events supporting climate and conservation organizations.
It’s completely normal to feel overwhelmed. Keep learning, stay engaged, and never underestimate the impact your voice and skills can have!
