Hello, Faith !
It's great that you are collecting the information now to apply for educational grants ! Being a student in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, you can apply for both grants and scholarships to help you out with college costs.
There is the The Winston-Salem Foundation for scholarships. Look into the One-Stop Scholarship Application that opens on January 1st and requires submissions by midnight on March 15th. You didn't state your college or your Major so it's not possible to line you up with specific grants without that information. You will get a grant if you apply for Federal Student Financial Aid as part of the package.
There are grants from private and non-profit organizations, but you will have to explore this online since you know which college and major you will be pursuing. You can obtain information about Grants from the College Foundation of North Carolina. Also check about Grants the with North Carolina Independent Colleges and Universities in case you will be attending a college that is private, nonprofit, liberal arts, or a research college. Grants are available from corporations and private foundations also. You would have to know which career and major you will have to target related places for grants.
It's not possible to refer you to grants without knowing your college or Major, however, you can search for Grants online by using the websites Fast Web, College Scholarships and the U.S. Department of Education’s grant portal. Connect with your intended college’s financial aid office for institutional grants and local opportunities through civic groups, religious organizations, and professional associations that may be associated with your future career goal. The Grants that are offered through Federal Student Financial Aid are the Pell Grant and the Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant.
I hope this helps a little for a start and I wish you all the best !

If you are speaking about grants for college, I would recommend starting with FAFSA. Not only can you apply for federal grants but most state grants, including North Carolina, have state grants available through the same application.
If you've already been accepted into a college, I would recommend contacting them as well! It looks like some schools, like UNC, have their own grant programs as well
