Yes this is most highest paying job right now, well after computer degree you will be able to develop new software's and Developing software is really quite valuable. There is no marginal cost of selling one extra copy of software which you have developed. This comes with a high demand for developers means that their pay is quite good. There are occupations where you can make more money, but compared to a general population, it won’t be wrong to say that software developers are paid quite well.

The field of computer science is very broad and it could be highly lucrative depending on your specialty and how hot that specialty is in the moment.

Technology evolves everyday and the best way to stay ahead of the pack and be relevant at all times is to stay up to date with the trend at all times and keep studying.

If money is your motivation, I'll suggest to look into machine learning, artificial intelligence, blockchain, data science etc because those are the IT skills in high demand currently.

However, nothing good comes easy and you have to be ready to not only work hard but also build the mental strength to deal with competition, failure/disappointments and other challenges that comes with trying to make it to the top in an extremely competitive field.

Best of luck!

Computer science fields are very broad, it's does not limit your job in IT/Technology, it can be a management job too. You can be a software developer, business analyst, automation expert, data scientist, user interface designer, managing team of developer and the list go on. Whether it's high paying or not, it depends on where you work, if you were to work in Silicon Valley or Bay Area, working for Google, Facebook, Apple etc yes it's higher pay than other areas.
