How can I prepare myself for the loss of my patients?

I am 17 years old and planning to go to college for nursing. My end goal is to become a NICU nurse. I would love to know how to cope with the inevitable.

It depends on your belief system.
Pretty much everyone agrees no one gets out alive.
One is born, one lives, and one dies.

In the NICU, sometimes death comes sooner rather than later.
If you are Christian, this will color your attitude.
I happen to be Christian.

If you do the best you can, and your patient dies, please accept it, grieve and move on.
Your patients will be the better for it, and so will you.
