Can you describe the educational path you took to get where you are today and how long did it take you to complete medical school and training to become a neonatologist ?

For my Literacy class, I am completing a project that involves interviewing a professional in the medical field I'm interested in to learn more about their career journey and experiences.

I am very interested in the field of neonatology

My path was a little untraditional: I went to undergraduate school for three years, four years of medical school, a flexible internship and two years of pediatric residency and then two years of fellowship in neonatology (in my training years only two years were required with a third optional year). A total of 12 years. Most people currently would require 14 years (4 + 4 + 3 +3).
